Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium is an antibiotic in a group of drugs called penicillins. Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium fights bacteria in the body. Amoxicillin Tablets is a penicillin antibiotic. It works by interfering with formation of the cell wall of sensitive bacteria while it is growing, killing it or preventing its growth. Some of the penicillins may also be used for other problems as determined by your doctor. However, none of the penicillins will work for colds, flu, or other virus infections. If you have ever had an allergic reaction to penicillin or to a cephalosporin, you may also be allergic to amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. Tell your doctor about any past drug allergies. Some medical conditions may interact with Amoxicillin Tablets. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions. Use Amoxicillin Tablets as directed by your doctor.
