Preston University Wins "6th RCCI Business Plan Competition"

Preston University has won the 6th RCCI Business Plan Competition organized

by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

 

Preston University, Islamabad participated in the ‘6th Business Plan Competition’ organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). The event was held at RCCI in March 2015. Students from seven leading universities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad namely Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi, Foundation University Rawalpindi, Preston University Islamabad, COMSATS Islamabad, APCOM Rawalpindi and Fast University Islamabad participated in the referenced competition. The main purpose of holding the Business Plan Competition was to provide university students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and skills in business management, and bridge the gap between industry and academia to promote business activities in the region.

 

Ms. Romina Khurshid , Acting Coordinator of Prime Minister’s Youth Loan Scheme was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. The Jury constituted to adjudicate the competition comprised of former president of RCCI Mr. Manzar Khurshid Sheikh, and Dr. Shimail Daud Arain, Faisal Mushtaq and Syed Ahmed Masood. Conspicuous by their presence were the incumbent President of RCCI, Syed Asad Mashadi, Senior Vice President Mian Humayun Parvez, Vice President Saboor Malik, members’ executive committee, and large number of students from the participating universities were also present on the occasion.

In his inaugural address Syed Asad Mashadi, President RCCI said that establishing a strong link between the industry and the academia is need of the hour. This, he emphasized, was extremely necessary to endorse business activities. He said that the Rawalpindi Chamber of commerce and Industry (RCCI) was playing its due role in this regard. He further said that this was the 6th competition of its kind organized by RCCI. He assured that the current sprit of organizing these competitions will be maintained in future also. The RCCI president, Syed Asad Mashadi said that Rawalpindi chamber’s mission is to boost the talent of the students’ community of the country, and make genuine efforts to provide them employment opportunities according to their qualifications and experience. He stated that students are the future managers and leaders of this country, and the country’s industrial development is heavily dependent on them. In view of the foregoing fact, it is very essential that we provide them ample opportunities to share their ideas, he maintained.

In her keynote address on the occasion, Chief Guest Ms. Romina Khurshid said that by organizing such competitions the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has initiated a constructive activity to polish the talent of the youth of Pakistan.  She said that such competitions will enormously help in boosting the talents of our youth and prepare them to contribute towards the economic development of Pakistan. She lauded the role of RCCI in national economic uplift, and hoped that such competitions will be continued to be held by RCCI in future as well. This, she emphasized, will immensely help in promoting business activities. At the end, she distributed prizes among the winners of first, second and third position holders of the competition-Preston University Islamabad, Air University Islamabad and Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU ) respectively.
