Inter-university "Qirat" and "Bilingual Debate" Competitions held at Preston University

 

Inter-university ‘Qirat’and ‘Bilingual Debate’ competitions were organized by Preston University at its campus in Islamabad. The referenced events were held under its ongoing mega annual event "Spring Splash 2015".Public and private universities of eminence from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kohat, Peshawar, Lahore and Punjab including Islamabad, Kohat and Peshawar Campuses participated in the competitions. Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University was the chief guest at the Qirat Competition. Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) presided over the bilingual debate completion as chief guest.   

In Qirat Competition, first position was won by Mohammad Naqash of University of Gujrat. Second prize in the competition was awarded to Hafiz Asad Sharif of University of Punjab, Lahore. Abdul Basit of Preston University, Islamabad stood third in Qirat competition.  Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University was the chief guest on the occasion. In his brief remarks after the conclusion of the event Dr. Basit immensely eulogized the talent of the participating students and congratulated the position holders who performed exceedingly well in the competition. Later, he distributed shields and certificates of commendation among the first, second and third position holders of the Qirat Competition.

In the inter-university ‘Bilingual Debate Competition’ eminent public and private universities of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Kohat, Peshawar, and Punjab participated.

In English Debate, Ashfaque Ahmed of Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad grabbed the first position. Second position in this competition was won by Saad Khan of G. C. University, Lahore. Third position in the English debate competition went to Talha Rasheed of Preston University, Islamabad.  In Urdu Debate, Qasim Raza of G. C. University, Lahore won first position. Second position was awarded to Faran Ali Saif from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. Usman Syed of Punjab University, Lahore stood third in Urdu Debate Competition.

Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) who was the chief guest on the occasion distributed prizes among the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position holders of English and Urdu Debate competitions. Chancellor Preston University, Dr. Abdul Basit was conspicuous by his presence at both the events; Qirat and Bilingual Debate competitions. God-gifted capabilities of reciting the Holy Quran by the students who participated in the Qirat Competition and the excellent debating skills of the students who participated in the English and Urdu Debate competitions were highly appreciated by the chief guest, Senator Sehar Kamran as well as the Chancellor of Preston University, Dr. Abdul Basit. They profoundly congratulated the students and the universities with which they are affiliated, on winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in the respective competitions. While very briefly addressing the students on the occasion, Senator Sehar Kamran said the country has full confidence in the talent and capabilities of its youth. On the shoulders of the youth of Pakistan lies heavy responsibility of steering the country out of its current gigantic predicaments and putting it back on the path to progress and prosperity, she emphasized.
