Remembrance Day Ceremony of twentieth January Martyrs of Azerbaijan held at Preston University

Preston University and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan jointly organized a seminar on ‘January 20 – Bloody and Glorious Page of History of Azerbaijan”. The referenced seminar was held at the Islamabad Campus of Preston University. The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, H.E Ali Alizada  was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

On the occasion, an Art Exhibition/Competition was also jointly organized by Preston University and the Embassy of Azerbaijan. Students of eminent public and private universities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad took part in the Art Competition. The themes on which the Art Competition was based were(1) Martyrdom to Independence (2) Friendship between Azerbaijan and Pakistan (3) Martyrs are always alive and never forgotten (4) Historical Monuments and modern Architecture of Azerbaijan and (5) January 20: A great step forward towards Independence of Azerbaijan. The judges of the Art Competition were: Syed Najam ul Hassan Kazmi, Miniature Artist (PNCA & Rawalpindi Arts Council), Mr. Sajid Munir, Director Lok Virsa and Ms.  Masooma Ahmed Zubairi from Preston University.    

Cash prizes of Rs.20,000, Rs.15, 000 and Rs.10,000 were awarded to winners of first, second and third positions respectively. The Painting of Ms. Muskaan Zahra of Air University, Islamabad was adjudged the best among all the submissions and was awarded first position in the Competition. Second position was awarded to the painting of Ms. Noor-ul-Hoda of Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi. Ms.Iqra Pervaiz  of Preston University was awarded third position. In addition to cash prizes, shields and certificates of commendation were also awarded to the position holders. Certificates of participation were presented to all the other participants of the Art Competition. H.E. Ali Alizada, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan and Dr. Abdul Basit Chancellor Preston University distributed the cash prizes, shields and Certificates.
