Preston University wins 1st Position in RCCI Business Plan Competition

Preston University, Islamabad beat its counterpart out-and-out to win 1st position in the inter-university ‘Business Plan Competition’ organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on May 26, 2014. The mega event was organized by RCCI to evaluate the business skills of the upcoming business professionals of the country and to bridge the gap between industry and academia to promote business activities in the region. Institutions which won 2nd and 3rd positions in the competition were APCOMS, Rawalpindi and FJWU, Rawalpindi respectively.   

Eminent among the universities which participated in the referenced competition were National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Islamabad, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Rawalpindi, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Preston University, Islamabad, COMSATS, Islamabad, APCOMS, Rawalpindi and National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Islamabad. 

The Managing Director of Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE), Mian Ayaz Afzal was the Chief Guest of the ceremony while former president Manzar Khurshid Sheikh, Raja Amer Iqbal and Col (retd) Zafar Jamal were the jury members of the competition. President RCCI, Dr. Shimail Daud Arain, other senior executives of RCCI and a large number of students were present on the occasion. In his inaugural address, Dr. Shimail Daud Arain, President RCCI said that it was need of the hour to strengthen the industry-academia linkages. This, he emphasized, is essential to enhance business activities in the region. In his address, Chief Guest Mian Ayaz Afzal said that such competitions provide the students an excellent opportunity to unleash their talent and familiarize themselves with practical and modern trends being pursued in businesses in national and international markets. He profoundly congratulated the Preston University team on winning 1st position in the competition. Winners of 2nd and 3rd positions were also appreciated by him.
